The descendants of John and Isabella Montgomery have gone to the four corners of the earth in their pursuits, and in service to their country.  A far
distance from the rural "local" lives of the 1700's, 1800's, and early 1900's.

We remember our ancestors traversed this America to reach Illinois, crossing mountains, hills, prairies and rivers, all in search of better tomorrows, in search of happiness.

A bit of wanderlust
lives in all of us, still.

A Montgomery Family Genealogy
As recorded and developed by W.J. Montgomery
Regarding the version of the MONTGOMERY COAT OF ARMS shown on the Opening / Index page:
Working in advertising and graphics in 1972, I created two black and white line art negatives of a Coat of Arms that appeared on a flyer dated June 25, 1926, that solicited the purchase of Montgomery Genealogy books.  This flyer was passed down to me by my father, James Robert Montgomery.
On the negatives, I hand-opaqued all of the black lettering which overprinted the red COA art on the actual flyer, leaving on the negatives only that which appeared in red ink. Red ink was same as black on a graphics/line art negative. From the second negative, I also needed the "Montgomery", so I repeated the process in reverse, opaquing away the red image, leaving only "Montgomery". (Today this graphic technique could be generally considered a lost art.)
The first, re-created colorized versions were done with colored markers on black and white prints made from the opaqued negatives. Later, I added the coloring permanently by scanning the original line art print and hand-created multiple color overlays electronically, one for each of the colors now seen on the COA.
